Jake Frenzel

Cybersecurity practitioner and software developer, working toward a career in security engineering. My work spans security tooling, AI agent systems, and full-stack web and mobile applications, built end-to-end with an emphasis on threat modeling, defense in depth, and secure-by-design principles. I'm actively seeking a cybersecurity role where broad engineering experience is an asset in protecting real-world systems.

Other Work

A cross-section of the rest — security tooling, full-stack apps, AI agents, and infrastructure.

CyberLab

Personal cybersecurity homelab rebuilt from scratch after the v1 design outgrew itself. pfSense on a Protectli Vault handles firewall and VLAN enforcement, Proxmox hosts lab VMs, a Raspberry Pi running Suricata and Zeek reads a mirrored port on the managed switch, and ELK aggregates the logs.

CityServe

Award

2nd place CityServe track, 4th overall at the AWS x GCU Cloudathon

Serverless AWS platform that walks CityServe staff through the correct NIST SP 800-88 device-sanitization procedure and automatically produces tamper-evident compliance certificates for every drive wiped. Built in 24 hours for the AWS x GCU Cloudathon.

CrownWynn

No-risk casino-style platform with a provably fair RNG. Mines and Keno outcomes are derived from a server seed, a client seed, and a per-game nonce using SHA-256, so every result can be independently verified after the fact. Django + Next.js behind an Nginx reverse proxy, with JWT auth and virtual currency instead of real money.

Blackjack Legend

Fully-featured mobile blackjack game for iOS and Android. Local-first React Native app (Expo SDK 54, Zustand, Reanimated) with a Firebase backend for Google and Apple sign-in, cloud save with debounced conflict-safe writes, and a global leaderboard. Currently in TestFlight with five testers.

AI-Powered Minecraft Agent

Autonomous Minecraft survival agent built as three cooperating services: a Mineflayer bot on Node.js, an OpenCV screen-capture vision service on Python, and a decision layer that polls both every 5 seconds and asks a Groq-hosted LLM what to do next. Early-stage working prototype; the roadmap is making the agent smarter and adding more actions.

2nd Place CityServe Track · 4th Overall
AWS × GCU Cloudathon
April 2026

Built CityServe, a serverless AWS platform for nonprofit device sanitization and NIST SP 800-88 compliance, in 24 hours with a 4-person team.
